I have a deep respect for people who can honestly look at their own behavior and change it for the better. My grandfather on my father's side was an abusive alcoholic (he died before I was born), and three of my four brothers had serious issues with alcohol and drugs. One died, one has been sober for at least 30 years and one has been pretending that he doesn't have a problem but has been drinking much less.

Wow. I feel like I just read huge parts of my Sober Story. I've forgotten the exact day and years. I think its my 40th? I too was running the kitchen in a Pub, I'd buzz the bar, a drink appeared. Got sick and tied of everything, carrying AA phone #'s in wallet. I fed the cat, let it out and walked into detox.

Easier now to be sober than in 80's,everything revolved around booze. Getting sober on St.Marks, after leaving Jersey for nyc . No cell phones, Gem Spa payphones,& a booklet. My future husband wasn't a drinker maybe a Sapporo with sushi, never in the house.

Drinking seltzer with lime at the Pyramid Club with Rupaul and Bunny. We were The "Cool Breeders", and always tipped Very Well. If I'd been Drinking I'd forget the Zenith years of East Village.

Kids, life on lifes terms. Wins and losses.

Grateful for my lil doxie joy,he keeps me walking through Walking it off is my DOC. .

I've been a happy fixed income donation fan

for your intel and

to feed Lenore and started with Smokey.💙 Thank you for sharing your journey.

I am grateful for you and my partner’s sobriety. A terrible disease, extremely misunderstood. Your candor always makes me smile.

I’m thrilled you’re sober, George. I have a few coins myself. Thanks for coming to us “live” each day with lovely Lenore. You’re hilarious!
